Are You Connected?

Article: Newbies for Social Media Networks

Hello Everyone,

Are you connected? You may not be sure as to why I am asking you if you are connected. I am asking in regards to social media networks like: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIn and blogs. Well I am connected. I am currently using Facebook, Youtube and creating blogs. But you would be surprised as to the amount of people who do not use these sites. Mark Evan's calls them "newbies". These "newbies" are looking to join social media networks like: Facebook (currently hold over 600 million people using the services), Twitters and blogs ( with over 200 million). Universities like Ryerson, in Toronto, provide workshops for those who are looking to learn more about these websites and services they are providing. Mark Evans, attends a workshop on core messaging where he finds individuals who are, "hungry for information and excited about possibilities".

Are these workshops even of any use to the creators of social media networks? I think so. Business like the famous Facebook, thrive off of people using their services. The social media network does not charge anyone to use its services. However, because of the abundance of users (customers), companies pay Facebook to advertise their services or products on the site. With workshops like the Core Messaging at Ryerson University that Mark Evans attended, it helps encourage individuals to proactively try to get set up. With this encouragement, social media networks will see a boost in the amount of people trying to use their services. Overall, these businesses will see growth if more people start using their services. It's a guaranteed success.
